Evening Standard Progress 1000.
Each year the Evening Standard’s Progress 1000 recognises the capital’s brightest and most influential individuals, published in a list and supported by in-depth editorial coverage. Individuals are recognised across a broad range of categories including Sport, Screen, Music, Politics, Tech, Art, Literature, Food & Drink, Architecture and Property, and many more.
A key individual list is published and celebrated - which in 2019 was headed up by the “Rebel Alliance”, acknowledging the power of influence during Brexit. Other notable inclusions were world champion sprinter Dina Asher-Smith, acting and writing star Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Led By Donkeys, the British anti-Brexit political campaign group.
In 2024 the theme will be The Future of London, and we will plan to recognise the heroes and pioneers who worked hard to try to work out the day-to-day challenges we face as a city and inspire us to make a difference in the face of adversity, as well as those who are going to lead us into a brighter future and push London into thriving post-pandemic. The categories are as follows:
- Leaders (politics, business, media)
- Eco warriors (sustainability in business, food, fashion, tech)
- Tastemakers (the arts, culture, style, design)
- Heroes (activists, sports stars, philanthropy, healthcare/emergency services)
- Pioneers (tech, innovation, young people championing change)
